The word mandala means “circle.” The mandala pattern is used across most religious traditions. For many, the mandala is used as an object for focusing attention as an aid to meditation. It symbolizes unity, wholeness, and the cyclical nature of existence. For this tutorial, I have provided four different ways to create a mandala design in cold process soap.
You will be expected to have experience with cold-process soapmaking as well as complete understanding of the correct handling and usage of lye/sodium hydroxide before proceeding.
Included in downloadable tutorial: 3-part video showing how the soap in the photo was made, plus bonus videos showing how the soaps in the other photos were made, written instructions with helpful tips and tricks for three other ways to achieve this design, several mandala templates, and inspiration for your own soap design.
Skills You Will Practice: Depends which technique you decide to use! You may learn how to pipe soap, how to use soap dough, control trace, etc.
Special Tools Needed: Also depends which technique you decide to use. You may need piping bags or squeeze bottles or soap dough.
