If you struggle to keep your soap batter fluid for extended periods of time or have difficulty recognizing when the soap batter is fully emulsified and ready to pour, this tutorial is for you! Cold process soapmaking is such a fun and satisfying activity, but it’s still a chemical reaction with many different variables, so even after 20 years of experience I don’t always have the perfect pour every time. However, I still learn something new with each batch, and this is a compilation of my experience.
Watch me make a batch of soap with one of the recipes included in the 6-page written tutorial. Also included: all my best tips and tricks for keeping the batter fluid as long as possible for swirling techniques and other fun designs!
You will be expected to have experience with cold-process soapmaking as well as complete understanding of the correct handling and usage of lye/sodium hydroxide before proceeding.
Included in downloadable tutorial: 3-part video showing how the soap in the photo was made, written instructions with helpful tips and tricks, four swirling recipes, tried and true fragrance list, and bonus information on how to oven process (CPOP).
Skills You Will Practice: Controlling trace
Special Tools Needed: Just the normal stuff, but I’ve included links to all my tools and ingredients!
